[ STATION / LEGAL DEPOSITIONS ]
Chain of custody from the first byte .
For BigLaw internal investigations, deposition prep, mock trials, and any witness interview where the recording will eventually sit in a discovery production. Per-session encryption, tamper-evident audit chain, evidence-bundle export with SHA-256 manifest.
30-day money-back * full feature set
[ THE PROBLEM ]
Today's legal interview stack is Zoom plus a spreadsheet .
Chain of custody starts at the review tool
Relativity, DISCO, Logikcull -- they all start from documents your team already has. The recording-creation step is Zoom + 'someone email me the MP4.' If the recording's provenance is challenged, you're back at the witness affidavit.
Retention promises that can't be kept
You told opposing counsel you'd preserve. You told the witness you'd delete. The SaaS keeps a copy, an analytics record, an indexed transcript, an embedded vector. The promises were never yours to make.
Exhibits live in three places
PDFs in the case folder. The witness 'shown Exhibit 4' on Zoom screen-share. Bates numbers applied later, manually, against the recording timestamp by someone hand-rolling it. Three sources of truth, one production deadline.
[ THE ANSWER ]
What CraterSync Premium gives litigation teams instead.
Per-session AES-256, every interview
Each session gets its own encryption key, envelope-wrapped against your org master with AAD bound to org + session id. Cross-session unwrap is infeasible by design. The recording is sealed, not just stored.
Tamper-evident audit chain
Every action -- create, view, export, share, delete -- enters a per-org hash chain. The audit log is signed and self-verifying. Forging a row means rewriting every subsequent row's hash AND the periodic Ed25519 chain anchor.
Evidence-bundle export
Single signed ZIP: original recording (32-bit float WAV + MP4), audit log CSV, witness consent declaration, exhibit attachments with hashes, MANIFEST.sha256 listing every artifact. Ready for the production set.
Exhibits with timestamped markers
Upload PDFs / images / emails before or during the interview. When shown, a marker drops into the audit log -- 'now showing Exhibit 4 at 00:42:17.' The exhibit's SHA-256 is locked in at that moment.
Witness consent declaration
Witness signs an attestation at session-join: identity, awareness of recording, scope of use. The signed declaration travels with the evidence bundle. No more 'I never agreed to be recorded' surprise.
Crypto-shred on engagement close
When the engagement closes, we destroy the master key. Every session in that engagement is mathematically unrecoverable -- not a deletion promise, an encryption guarantee. The retention promise is a math proof.
[ THE SPECS ]
Posture your e-discovery team can verify in code .
- AES-256-GCM per-session DEK, envelope-wrapped (AAD bound to org + session id)
- Audit log: per-org hash chain, Ed25519 anchors, fully self-verifying
- Evidence bundle: WAV + MP4 + audit CSV + exhibits + consent + SHA-256 manifest (signed ZIP)
- Custom retention windows; crypto-shred on engagement close
- Privilege markers with redaction-aware exports (production set vs. internal review)
- Right to audit available on Dedicated (annual third-party audit, 16h included on Pro)
- RFC 3161 third-party timestamping shipping Q4 2026
[ NO-RISK PILOT ]
Run a real interview before procurement gets the brief.
Premium ($1,499/mo) ships with a setup call -- we walk your team through the chain-of-custody surfaces, witness consent flow, and evidence-bundle export. Run an actual mock-trial interview, hand the bundle to your e-discovery team, walk through the audit log with them. The 30-day window covers it end to end.
[ NOT A FIT IF... ]
We're a bad fit if.
- --You need court-grade certified-record-keeping with an in-person notary present at every recording. Today our defaults are strong but custodial-grade is a higher bar; let's talk about Dedicated + specific certification requirements.
- --You need real-time machine translation or simultaneous interpretation built in. Today, that's not us.
- --You're a downstream review tool buyer (Relativity, DISCO replacement). We're the capture layer, not the document review layer -- we feed YOUR review tool, we don't replace it.
[ STATION READY ]
Capture a witness interview, production-ready .
Premium is $1,499/mo with public price and a setup call before launch. Tell us about the engagement: retention rules, exhibit volume, SSO setup. We'll come back with the kickoff call scoped.
